Upgrade path from VCDX4 to VCDX5

May 4th, 2012 No comments

I found this post on the VMware Communities that could be interesting to VCDX4 people;

Current VCDX4 holders in good standing will be able to upgrade their certification to VCDX5 by successfully passing the VMware Certified Advanced Professional 5- Datacenter Design (VDCD510) exam. The VCAP5-DCD exam release date will be announced in May. Release of the VCAP5-DCD final exam blueprint will occur at that time.

All VCDX4-holders wishing to upgrade will be required to achieve VCP5. There will be a three-month window following the VCAP5-DCD exam release during which the VCP5 certification requirement will be satisfied upon successful completion of the VCAP5-DCD exam. After the three-month window expires, all VCDX4-holders will be required to satisfy published training and examination requirements for VCP5 prior to completing their upgrade via the VCAP5-DCD exam.

VCDX4-holders in good standing who have completed the VCAP5-DCD Beta Exam and achieved a passing score have satisfied the requirements for VCDX5 and are thus certified.

VMware released three new desktop certifications

February 6th, 2011 No comments

Well maybe I lived under a rock the last weeks, or VMware have released at least one desktop virtualization certification (VCA-DT), and two other desktop certifications are coming soon: VCP-DT and VCAP-DT.

This is very good news, because before this you only had VCP, VCAP and if you’re very smart even VCDX ;-) but they where more or less focused on the vSphere 4 product range, and not on the enterprise desktop products, like for example View.

Here’s a little quote from the VMware certification website about the VMware Certified Associate 4 – Desktop or in short VCA4-DT.

The VMware Certified Associate 4 – Desktop (VCA4-DT) is the first step toward gaining expertise in desktop virtualization and earning the respect and recognition that comes with being VMware Certified. The exam is designed for Desktop System Administrators who seek to demonstrate their ability to manage, monitor and troubleshoot desktop deployments and VMware View components, as well as their knowledge of adjacent, complementary technologies to VMware solutions.

More information about the VMware Certified Associate 4 – Desktop, can be found over here at the VMware Education site.

The exam blueprint can be found over here (login required).

The two remaining VMware certifications: VCP-DT and VCAP-DT are not yet released, so no information is available at this moment, once they are released, I will add them to this post as well.

Stay tuned :-)
